We are incredibly proud of Talia Blumberg (Dorot Carmel 2016, attending pre-Kindy to Year 12). As if receiving the Curtin Excellence Scholarship to study Speech Pathology at Curtin University wasn’t enough, Talia recently graduated with a first class honours Bachelor of Science and Masters of Speech Pathology degree, her thesis focusing on Autism Spectrum Disorder. Talia received the Vice Chancellor’s Award, followed by the coveted Speech Pathology Award of Australia in her final year - the Dr Anthea Masarei Memorial Award - for fostering compassion in her clinical work.

Sadly, COVID restrictions means that Talia has been unable to follow through with Curtin’s recommendation to apply to Oxford to become a Rhodes Scholar. She now lives in Melbourne and works as a Speech Pathologist.

Just as we cheered her through all the years she was lovingly nurtured at our ‘Carmel family’, we proudly watch on as Talia, a true mensch, is acknowledged time and again for her efforts in tertiary study and beyond.
