On Monday 9 August the Year 10 entrepreneurship students had the absolute pleasure of meeting the founder of Kanopy, Olivia Humphrey. ÌýOlivia's global streaming empire started in 2008 with a bold idea, a spare room at the front of her partner’s house and a copy ofÌýStarting a Business For DummiesÌýborrowed from Scarborough Library. Her business was known as the art-house and indie Netflix, where users can access the streaming platform's video collection for free through partnered university and public libraries.

She shared with us through several photos her journey from studying psychology all the way to selling Kanopy last week for millions of dollars! The students learnt more about the film industry, what it was like to move what is now one of the largest streaming platforms to the US with a young family and how important key partnerships can be when looking to exit. Thank you, Olivia, for this fantastic opportunity!
