After running the English masterclasses in 2020, I am excited for the opportunity to continue developing and improving on my classes for the current Year 12 English cohort. As students are required to pass EnglishÌýin order toÌýgraduate, my aim is to provide the students with the extra outside-of-classroom support needed not only to pass English, but to reach their personal academic goals. The sessions I am running this term are particularly focused on helping students improve their analysis skills. The first section of the ATAR English exam requires students to produce three short-answer responses, analysing three unseen texts in under 60 minutes. Being able to produce a thorough analysis of a text that is both clearly and concisely expressed would pose a challenge to most!ÌýSoÌýeach masterclass will include a series of prepared activities, hands-on workshops and models to help students advance their critical reading, analysis, and writing skills. Closer to their mid-semester English exam, I will be running a session dedicated to helping students build their own personalised exam study plans and developing English specific revision skills.ÌýÌý

As a student in my third year of studying a Bachelor of Secondary Education (majoring in English), I am very grateful for the opportunity to run these masterclasses; gaining more experience in the subject area and being able to apply my knowledge. I am also very thankful to theÌýSchoolÌýmanagement and to Mrs Cunningham for their ongoing support and look forward to another term of successful masterclasses!Ìý
